Do not go to display properties under system settings.Try going into your graphics driver in the control panel settings. I opened up the side of the case, blew any dust inside out, removed the 2 screws holding the port in trying to reseat the connection but cannot remove it.Any help If you attach it at a later point then the (Windows) software driver is responsible for enabling the VGA port. Something like Knoppix or BartPE, even with something like that something should show up on the external monitor while docked and should rule out anything hardware based if it works. Also make sure for some reason the BIOS has not been reset or changed and check the display options settings, there should be options for outputs. After the installaion my Sony TV display did not work and my notebook display is limited to lower resolution.
