This seemed to have started a few weeks ago when we had that really cold spell. Its now moving again, BUT its going up and down? Cranked it up and took it down the road and the gauge works, it isn't loosing power when I come to a stop (it had stalled completely a couple of times Vectra C Temp Gauge Up Down The sensor likely feeds information to the engine ECU so if its running OK the fault probably either with the gauge itself, the ECU or the wiring from it. There seems to be so much extraneous "stuff" cluttering the engine bay on moderns that I wouldn't even know where to find the stat! thanks - will keep an eye on it for the next few days............... Initial thoughts are a faulty thermostat. This is just one of those things thats annoying and would like to fix if its easy enough.

Today the gauge went to half (where it normally goes) for about 10 mins, the went back down to zero.
