If you go into Devices & Printers on Win 7, you'll see a yellow warning marker next to "UserName-PC". Click on the line Disk Management. I first noticed it with an 8GB thumb drive. What els can Ido? Some of these external drives have a proprietary backup software etc which it requires to be run before the drive can be mounted such as my maxtor one touch.. But I had to go into safe mode first. I've tried this method in an attempt to fix this issue, but was unsuccessful. Your advice really worked. Ask a question Members get more answers than anonymous users. Check This Out USB Ports/Secondary PC You can also try plugging the drive into another USB port on the computer to make sure it's not a problem with that particular port.
And also I havent tried the uninstall option of the drive, because I am not sure if doing this I will definitely loose the data. Open the Windows folder on the C: drive (Computer > C: > Windows) and click OK.
Delete the file INFCACHE.1. If you get an error when trying to delete this file, try the following steps: Right-click on INFCACHE.1. The laptop (Windows XP) detects the hard drive and it even shows up in the Device Driver under Disk drives as "ST9190AG USB Device".
